Code of ethics

The set of rules binding on a therapist — from confidentiality to the prohibition on exploiting the relationship.

Term

What it covers

Protecting confidentiality, informed consent, respect for dignity and non-discrimination, clear boundaries in the relationship, a prohibition on dual relationships and sexual contact, and the duty to work within the limits of your competence.

What this means for you

If you believe a therapist has acted against these principles, you can make a complaint to the ethics committee of the professional association. That applies to me too.

Does some of this sound familiar?

An explanation is one thing, the experience another. If you'd like to talk it through with someone, write to me.

This is what insomnia taught me. What has it taught you? Traumatic experiences can leave you weakened — on recovery and strength. On the worries that drain our energy. On why differentiation matters in relationships. Self-confidence starts with self-awareness. On how hard it is to start — and harder still to keep going.
