Controller of personal data

The controller of the personal data collected through this website is Veronika Železnik, veronika@veronikazeleznik.com, +386 41 867 622. If you have any questions about your data, you can write to me directly.

What data is collected

Contact form

Your name, email address, an optional phone number, the chosen form of work and the text of your message. These details are sent to my email address and stored in the outgoing mail log on the server.

Newsletter sign-up

Name and email address. They are kept in the website's database until you unsubscribe.

Automatically collected data

With every visit, the server records the IP address, the time of the visit, the address requested and browser details. These records are kept for security reasons and only for a limited time.

Why the data is processed and on what legal basis

  • Replying to your enquiry — processing is necessary in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • Newsletter — on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Security and operation of the website — on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Health data through the website form is not collected. Please don't write sensitive health information in your message — we'll work through that safely in session.

How long it is kept

  • Messages from the contact form: up to two years from your last contact.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.
  • Server logs: up to 12 months.
  • Dokumentacija o terapevtski obravnavi nastaja zunaj spletnega mesta in se hrani v skladu s pravili stroke.

Confidentiality between you and me

I never pass your data on to third parties. I don't sell them, trade them or use them for advertising, and I share them with no one apart from the providers technically required to run the site and its email (hosting, mail server) — and they have no access to the content of your message for their own purposes.

Confidentiality between client and therapist is established the moment you send your first message — not only at the first session or when consent is signed. Everything you write to me is protected by the same professional confidentiality as a conversation in the therapy room.

I break confidentiality in only two exceptional cases: when the law expressly requires it, and when there is a serious, immediate danger to your life or the life of others. If that were to happen, I would tell you.

The ethical standards I work by

Psychotherapeutic work in Slovenia is bound by the ethical principles of the profession and its associations. In my work I follow:

  • the code of ethics of the Slovenian Umbrella Association for Psychotherapy (SKZP) and the ethical principles of the Slovenian Association of Marriage and Family Therapists — protection of confidentiality, informed consent, respect for dignity and non-discrimination, clear boundaries in the therapeutic relationship and a prohibition on dual relationships;
  • the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the Slovenian Personal Data Protection Act (ZVOP-2), which govern the processing of personal data;
  • regular supervision with a licensed supervisor, where I discuss the content of sessions without any details that could identify you.

As a therapist in training under supervision I do not yet hold a licence; when I obtain one, I will tell you clearly. If you believe I have acted against these ethical principles, you can tell me directly, and you may also file a complaint with the ethics committee of the professional association.

Who the data is shared with

I don't sell your data and I don't pass it on to third parties for their own purposes. Only the providers that are essential for running the site have access to it:

  • Hosting provider — hosting of the website and email (servers within the European Union).
  • Email service provider — sending messages from the website.

I don't share any website content with advertising networks.

Your rights

At any time you can request access to your data, its correction or erasure, restriction of processing, transfer of your data to another controller, or object to processing. You can withdraw your consent to the newsletter using the link in every message, or by writing to me.

If you believe your rights have been infringed, you can lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner of the Republic of Slovenia, Dunajska cesta 22, 1000 Ljubljana, gp.ip@ip-rs.si.

Security

The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to the data is limited to the controller. Even so, no transfer over the internet is entirely secure — for confidential matters, let's talk in session.

This is what insomnia taught me. What has it taught you? Traumatic experiences can leave you weakened — on recovery and strength. On the worries that drain our energy. On why differentiation matters in relationships. Self-confidence starts with self-awareness. On how hard it is to start — and harder still to keep going.
