Decision matrix
A simple table that turns going round in circles into a visible comparison — including the cost of not deciding.
What it’s for
With decision paralysis, what’s missing isn’t information but an overview. The matrix doesn’t decide for you; it does make visible what is really holding you.
How it goes
- Draw four boxes: if I do this — what I gain, what I lose; if I don’t — what I gain, what I lose.
- Fill in all four. The last is the one we usually avoid, and usually the one that says most.
- Beside each item, note whether it is a fact or a prediction.
- Write down what you’re afraid of losing if you choose. That is the real question.
