Impermanence
The awareness that time is limited — a source of anxiety and, at once, one of the strongest sorters of priorities.
How it shows up
The awareness often wakes with illness, a loss or a milestone birthday. What follows is either flight into activity or anxiety — more rarely, reflection.
What we do with it in therapy
We don’t close questions about impermanence with consolation. Often the answer to them turns out to be a change in how the week is arranged.
