What it’s for

»I rested« often means lying beside a screen, which doesn’t give the body back what it spent. The types of rest don’t substitute for one another.

How it goes

  1. Physical: sleep, lying down, stretching.
  2. Sensory: quiet, no screens, no bright light.
  3. Emotional: time free of other people’s demands.
  4. Social: time with people you don’t have to make an effort around.
  5. Creative: something beautiful, with no purpose.
  6. Rate each from 0 to 10 and put the lowest-scoring one into your week.

Does some of this sound familiar?

An explanation is one thing, the experience another. If you'd like to talk it through with someone, write to me.

This is what insomnia taught me. What has it taught you? Traumatic experiences can leave you weakened — on recovery and strength. On the worries that drain our energy. On why differentiation matters in relationships. Self-confidence starts with self-awareness. On how hard it is to start — and harder still to keep going.
