Procrastination
Turning away from a task, arising not from laziness but from the unpleasant feeling the task triggers.
How it shows up
You put off whatever triggers anxiety, boredom or fear of being judged. The turning away brings immediate relief, and with that the pattern hardens — a little more each time.
What we do with it in therapy
The question isn’t how to force yourself, but which feeling you’re avoiding. Once it has a name, the first step is often surprisingly small.
