Generalised anxiety

Worry that moves from topic to topic and rarely stops, even when there is no occasion for it.

How it shows up

When one worry is resolved, the next appears. It is often accompanied by muscle tension, disturbed sleep and an inability to relax, even when everything is fine.

What we do with it in therapy

The key question isn’t whether the worries are justified, but what worrying does for you — often it creates a sense of readiness and control. We work with that belief, and with postponing worry.
