Your picture of who you are — as distinct from self-confidence, which is the belief that you can do something.
How it shows up in daily life
You can be very confident at work and at the same time have a poor self-image: you know how to do it, yet you feel you aren’t worth much. That is why external success doesn’t repair self-image — evidence of ability doesn’t answer a question about worth.
What we do with it in therapy
Self-image forms in relationships and changes in relationships. We work with whose gaze you carry inside you, and what happens when someone sees you as you are and stays.
