Infertility and distress

Long waiting, procedures and losses that weigh on the individual and on the couple.

Term

How it shows up

Life divides into cycles of hope and disappointment. Intimacy can become scheduled, and the body turns into a project. Often each partner grieves in their own way and each thinks the other doesn’t care.

What we do with it in therapy

We work on keeping the difference in how you grieve from becoming distance, and on what, in this period, keeps the relationship from being only a procedure.

On why differentiation matters in relationships. Self-confidence starts with self-awareness. On how hard it is to start — and harder still to keep going.
