Core beliefs

Deep, rarely spoken rules about yourself, others and the world, which colour all experience.

Term

How it shows up

»I’m not enough.« »People can’t be trusted.« »If I show weakness, they’ll leave.« Beliefs work as a filter: what fits them you notice; what contradicts them you overlook or explain away.

What we do with it in therapy

First we put them into words, because they work most powerfully while they remain unspoken. Then we check what they grew out of — and whether they still hold.

Does some of this sound familiar?

An explanation is one thing, the experience another. If you'd like to talk it through with someone, write to me.

This is what insomnia taught me. What has it taught you? Traumatic experiences can leave you weakened — on recovery and strength. On the worries that drain our energy. On why differentiation matters in relationships. Self-confidence starts with self-awareness. On how hard it is to start — and harder still to keep going.
