Creativity
The capacity to make something that wasn't there before — including when it isn't art.
How it shows up
It requires space without a goal, which is the first thing to disappear from an exhausted schedule. Its loss is often an early sign that things have been too hard for too long.
What we do with it in therapy
I don’t prescribe hobbies. But I notice that creativity returns by itself during recovery — and that it is a good indicator that things are moving.
